Aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Shaping a future that’s Made for Life means working towards shared societal goals. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
Everyone, including businesses, has a role to play, and we take ours seriously. In 2023, we became a signatory of the UN Global Compact, and our commitments and partnerships align with supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
Our partnership with CO2balance directly supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and qualified for registration on the United Nations SDG Actions Platform, a global registry of partnerships that support sustainable development and the 17 SDGs.

HOW WE ADVANCE THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

GOOD HEALTH
AND WELLBEING
Good health is central to everything we do. Through our products, we support medical professionals in delivering high-quality care, while also funding initiatives aimed at fostering healthier communities.

.

QUALITY
EDUCATION
We understand the power of education in advancing innovation, equal opportunity, and social wellbeing. As sponsors of the RESPECT and RESPECT TOO programmes, we help vulnerable children engage with education and stay in school longer, creating lasting opportunities for their future.
GENDER
EQUALITY
We actively support projects that reduce the burden of household chores on women and girls. This means they have more time to earn money and go to school, creating the conditions for women to play a greater role within their community.
.
CLEAN WATER
AND SANITATION
Clean water is essential for preventing disease.
Since 2014, through the projects we support, we’ve helped deliver over 39 million litres of clean water to communities in Northern Uganda.
.

AFFORDABLE AND
CLEAN ENERGY
Renewable energy is crucial to building a low-carbon economy. All UK sites controlled by us are powered by purchased renewable electricity, additionally we have solar panels installed at our Dinnington Warehouse.
We are also supporting other communities to gain access to clean energy by supporting projects like a wind farm in India.

DECENT WORK
AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
We are dedicated to creating a workplace that promotes personal and economic growth. In 2024, 95% of our team members said they were proud to work at Canon Medical UK – a testament to our supportive and inclusive culture. By paying the Real Living Wage we support a higher quality of life for our team, while our dedication to learning and development helps upskill and diversify the workforce.

RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
AND PRODUCTION
It is our responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. We are working to reduce our waste and prolong the life of products to limit our use of the planet’s finite resources.
.
.

CLIMATE
ACTION
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a priority. As such, we are committed to reaching Net Zero by 2045. We also support projects that reduce emissions, such as providing efficient cooking stoves in Kenya.
.

LIFE
BELOW WATER
We have successfully planted over 5,293 mangroves in Kenya, helping to restore vital ecosystems. These mangroves provide natural flood defence, create habitats for diverse marine life, and act as carbon sinks, absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
