Graham Little
Chief Finance Officer
The role of CFO is the backbone of any organisation and Graham’s financial and administrative stewardship enables the overall leadership team to make important strategic decisions that drive long-term growth and profitability. And it is because of the critical nature of his role that he favours a hands-on approach and is fully immersed in every aspect of Canon Medical Systems UK finances and infrastructure. Indeed, no two days are the same for Graham and this is something he very much enjoys about his role.
“It’s incredibly varied – financial, legal, tax planning and analysis, but I also spend time working with many different teams within the business and am Chairman of Trustees for our pension scheme,” he explains. This particular area of his work is of great importance to him as, he says, “it’s about protecting peoples’ futures.”
And it is this which fundamentally drives him day-to-day. Early in his career with Canon Medical, he vividly recalls the moment he saw a 14-week-old baby undergoing a heart operation where the surgeon viewed every action via our state-of-the-art interventional X-ray system. In experiencing first-hand the difference our technology makes to lives, he fully understood the incredible importance of our work. “It was just remarkable,” he says. “And the contrast in image quality between then and today is just phenomenal. That’s what I’m passionate about.”
At home, Graham can be found pottering in the garden or keeping up with the DIY. However, he also has a fondness for music and plays both the saxophone and piano. “Badly,” he laughs, but here, of course, we must bear in mind that he holds himself to the very highest standards in everything he accomplishes.
“We work in a great industry and, as our business has evolved to be more complex, I am proud of the role I play in enabling my colleagues to deliver best in class service to our customers.” – Graham Little
