Maiko Davison
Operations & Marketing Director and E, D & I Ambassador
It has been nearly twenty years since she joined Toshiba Medical Systems UK as a marketing executive and has since absorbed the worlds of medical imaging and the healthcare sector, navigating both the Toshiba and Canon Medical brands through a rapidly changing world. Under her strategic guidance, the marketing team has delivered activations for key sponsorships with internationally recognised names such as Manchester United, and for the Birmingham 2022 and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
While she is the custodian of the marketing mix for the UK, leading with expertise in digital, social, events and public relations, there is also an important operational aspect to her role. Complex change management initiatives and projects with a long legacy, such as the new Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield, fall within her remit, as well as a project directorship for the Canon Medical UK Environmental, Social & Governance (commonly known as ESG) Strategic Group.
“Adapting and developing is how we strive to build a better future,” explains Maiko. “We want everyone in our organisation to feel valued and respected and I personally feel strongly about our values of equality, diversity and inclusion, in particular fostering a psychologically safe workplace where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work. Knowing we’re making that difference to so many really drives me.”
With two daughters under the age of five, her family time is precious, but she is also keenly aware that she is a role model to her children, and this motivates her in her professional life. “I want to do as much as I can in my career to create a fairer and more equitable world for future generations, but there is still so much work to be done in business, schools and society,” she says.
“Made for Life is a key part of the Canon Medical Systems corporate philosophy – living and working together for the common good. Every decision we make is aligned to it and I couldn’t be prouder to work for an organisation that stands by such a commitment.” – Maiko Davison
